English essay

Describe at least one important character in the written text. Explain how this character is revealed to you throughout the text?

the novel “lord of the flies” we see a lot of characters introduced throughout the novel it seems that the way they are introduced are all different some in ways we see how Ralph is the first introduced in the novel how Ralph is seen as the protagonist and how Sigmund Freud’s ideas relate to Ralph

Ralph is introduced to us as the first character in the book we follow him for the first couple of chapters this shows us how he changes over the course of time with how he went from a scared little boy to a strong leader and chief. the use of following a character through a series of events shows how they will evolve as a person with the way they change and how events through out the chapters start to have more input for book. Ralph’s character is shown more to us as he becomes leader of the boys he become more sensible with his decisions showing us he is more of leader and a evolved person.

Ralph is seen as the protagonist because of the way he act and the we can relate to him as a character. the way Ralph acts with his decisions he makes like his choice to keep the fire going shows that he is determined we see this determination in a lot of protagonists in many books and movies it is seen as a common trait in many protagonists. we can relate to Ralph as a character by the way he is just a kid as we just are. the decision Ralph makes are common ones many people would make in the situation he is in. the use of having Ralph as a kid for the protagonist relates to the reader audience.

Sigmund Freud’s ideas of id,ego and super ego is important to Ralph as a character as his idea of super ego relates to him because Ralph and his thinking are trying to keep the boys id at bay with his rules and society ideas. William Golding used this to show how each character such as Ralph to show how each of the boys has a trait that rivals one or the other such as Ralph’s super ego idea and jacks id idea.

Ralph in Williams Golding’s novel “lord of the flies” is reveled to us in a matter of consistent ideas such as he is the leader of the boys and ends up being seen as the protagonist. but his character is based off Sigmund Freud’s idea of super ego making him the opposite to id. the way the theme of character introduction in “lord of the flies” has been so well done by William Golding making this book well written.

Hi Harry,

Look back over your work here and think about revising your sentences. It is difficult to understand what you are trying to say here. Try reading it out loud to yourself as this will help you to hear where you can make improvements.

Hi Harry,

Remember to clearly outline the three key points you are going to be discussing in your essay with your introduction. Also extend your thinking a little further, instead of saying the Ralph is revealed to us by being the first character, try discussing why that is, what it reveals about his character and how is revealed (Language features).

Hi Harry,

What is it called when the story is told through a character’s perspective? It would be good to use more technical terms. Be careful not to repeat yourself as well. Two of your paragraphs, Ralph being the first character and Ralph being the protagonist, are almost identical. Your three key ideas need to be specific and distinctly different from each other. Remember to include quotes in each paragraph and to make specific connections to the world outside the novel. I see you’ve tried this in your second paragraph you just need to be more specific, name the character or novel you are linking to.

Hi Harry,

The points you are trying to make are unclear. I can not understand what it is you are trying to say about Ralph. You need to also make connections to the world outside the novel and discuss what the author’s purpose is. This means what they are trying to say, why they are saying it and how you understand that. Make you connections as specific as possible.
